The Executive Director provides leadership, management, and direction for all Ski Bowl Operations at Mulligan’s Hollow Ski Bowl (MHSB).

This role is directly responsible to ensure the overall success of MHSB associated with the following; accountability for executing daily hill operations, future and strategic planning, reporting of operations, employee hiring and performance, staff development, financial results which include expense and labor management in accordance with budget requirements, and compliance with all governmental regulations ensuring that safety is paramount across our hill’s operations for both staff and guests.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall Hill Operations including the following departments; Lift Operations, Ticketing and Concessions, Snowmaking and Maintenance, Lessons, Grooming and Terrain Parks, and Community Events
  • Oversee the management and administration of operations to produce an exceptional guest and employee experience
  • Develop and maintain company policies and procedures regarding guidelines established by regulatory agencies and best practices in the ski resort industry. Assist and produce direct reports with budgetary responsibilities as necessary. 
  • Own the budgeting process and assist direct reports with the development of their respective budgets, goals and objectives to improve the performance of each operation.
  • Attend and actively participate in all senior team, leadership meetings, operational meetings, and required company functions. 
  • Communicate information to all Ski Bowl Operations staff to ensure the proper distribution of resort activities and general information. 
  • Responsible to oversee and participate in the hiring, training, and performance evaluation (including disciplinary action as needed) for all direct reports to ensure a professional team is developed 
  • Complete proper paperwork and reporting as required by operations, human resources and legal regulations are done in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Plan the necessary inventory to be ordered and stocked with the necessary supplies to maintain all equipment for the resort. 
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships and represent the organization to outside vendors, contractors, business and community groups, as well as local, state, and federal government agencies. 
  • Directs and oversees Ski Bowl area planning, and prioritizes on-hill construction and maintenance projects. 
  • Prepares and maintains any necessary permits.
  • Directs and oversees overall planning and operations, both short-term and long-term.
  • Exercises judgment in accordance with MHSB policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in ski area management, mechanical operations, personnel management, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly and precisely in a variety of significant situations (such as training, explaining, giving directions, etc.). 
  • May require the ability to apply advanced negotiation skills in working with others in situations that have little routine or structure. 
  • Requires the ability to interact with guests and customers of the hill in a friendly and accommodating manner. 
  • Requires input in major decision-making which may affect policies or procedures at MHSB
  • Determines effectiveness of present on-hill procedures and programs and makes suggestions for program changes. 
  • Requires the ability to maintain good records related to operations, maintenance, and human resources. 
  • Should be proficient in Google applications (Sheets, Docs, etc), as well as budgeting software, payroll software, etc. 
  • Requires operation of basic office equipment (computer, telephone, FAX, copier, etc.). 
  • Requires formulating/implementing, reviewing, and maintaining work and workplace safety rules, standards, and procedures within established guidelines and expectations. 
  • May involve scheduling, coordinating, solving personnel issues (recruiting, employment, retention, discipline, promotion, etc.). 

We Offer:

  • Starting wage: $12,000-$15,000

Hill Manager – Apply Here

The Hill Manager is a seasonal role that provides leadership and direction ensuring a cohesive team environment working toward the goal of a legendary ski experience. The ideal candidate will be a longtime skier/snowboarder with experience and practical knowledge in ski areas and operations. The Hill Manager will oversee and lead a team of 10-15 team members

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Hill Manager is responsible for all lift operations during the year and will work directly with the Executive Director to schedule, manage, and facilitate lifts operations for guests
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and training to lift operations staff
  • Inventory control (equipment, uniforms, tools, etc)
  • Responsible for weekly work schedules and specific work location/ lift schedules for lift operators and Supervisors while staying within budget and operations targets
  • Coaching, counseling and implementing corrective behavioral action plans
  • Confirm all staff are correctly maintaining the lift log books and adhering to resort safety standards
  • Investigate any lift-related incidents, file appropriate injury related reports
  • Communicate any variations from normal lift operating schedule (wind hold, delayed opening, etc.) to Management team immediately
  • Be aware of any snow grooming, removal or additions needed at all lifts
  • Assist Lift Maintenance as needed
  • Assists general maintenance as needed
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work a minimum of five to six days per week, including weekends and holidays during the winter season (November-April)
  • Must have good organizational skills, as well as basic computer, mechanical, and operational knowledge
  • A high level of communication both written and verbal
  • Requires efficient problem solving
  • Positive attitude, self-starter, and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Work Environment: This position involves working outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces, and requires being on your feet for the majority of the scheduled shift
  • Must remain alert and attentive at all times
  • Must lift up to 50 pounds and be able to twist, turn and drag equipment
  • Must be 18 years or older 
  • Clean driving record and background check required

  • Starting wage: $15,000-$20,000
